On Tuesday, Ms. Bernard kicked off the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award reading program with the fourth, fifth, and sixth graders and their teachers. Each year, a list of 25 books nominated for the award is circulated so that students in these grades can read the books and vote on the one they think deserves to win. At Bement, we read MCBA books from November to March, and celebrate the end of the program with a Battle of Books — a trivia game based on the 25 books! Students and teachers put together trivia teams for the friendly competition and do their best to answer questions about their reading. Ms. Bernard has a great MCBA blog with information about the books, the authors, and the readers, so be sure to check it out throughout MCBA season. Happy reading!
