The Bement community gathered together on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to remember and reflect on the life and message of Dr. King. We began the day with an all-school meeting where students sang, danced, and spoke about Dr. King’s life. Then, different groups of students met with representatives from an organization that helps refugees settle in the Springfield area. Our students learned about what a refugee is and ways that we can create a welcoming, inclusive community for all. At the end of the day, the entire school gathered back together to hear a gospel music performance. It was a full, meaningful for students and teachers alike!
